On Oct. 21, at 6:26 a.m., frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to a motor vehicle incident involving two vehicles at the intersection of Stoney Creek Road and Hwy 22, in Trail.

A 39-year-old Burnaby man driving a white 2019 Ford F350 truck allegedly turned southbound onto Hwy 22 from Stoney Creek Road in front of a northbound 23-year-old Trail man and his 2021 Ram cargo van resulting in a collision.

A light standard was sheered from its base because of the collision and only one day after the standard had been replaced due to it being sheered off in a previous motor vehicle incident. The 39-year-old Burnaby man left the scene of the incident after briefly speaking to the attending officers.

Trail RCMP is still searching for the man after his sudden disappearance.

Trail RCMP suspect that alcohol may have been a factor in the cause of this collision. If you have any information about the location of the 39-year-old Burnaby man, please contact the Trail and Greater District RCMP at 250-364-2566 to speak to an investigator.

“Trail RCMP will be conducting increase patrols along Highway 22 to assist in the slowing down the traffic in the area after receiving complaints from the public. Some enforcement has already been conducted with tickets for speeding issued. Please use extra caution through November as it will continue to be heavily trafficked,” said Trail RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich
