The following Notice of Temporary Use Permit Application is published in today’s (Thursday, August 10, 2023) local newspapers and will be published again on Thursday, August 17, 2023. Residents within 50 metres of the proposed site will receive a copy of the notice in their mailboxes.

TAKE NOTICE that Trail City Council will consider passing a resolution authorizing the issuance of a Temporary Use Permit to BC Housing at the Regular Council Meeting on Monday, August 21, 2023 commencing at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Trail City Hall and via Zoom.

The purpose of the permit is to allow for the modular construction and operation of a homeless shelter on the undeveloped City-owned property/Crown foreshore lease, located at 2039 Riverside Avenue (shown in crosshatch on the map here).  A temporary use permit may be issued for a term of up to 3 years and can be renewed only once. The use of the property for shelter services is intended to be temporary in nature until a more suitable location can be secured.  A copy of the permit may be inspected at City Hall, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

If you feel your interest in property is affected by the proposed permit, you may wish to participate in the meeting in person or electronically to express your concerns to Council.  Parties interested in participating electronically should register in advance by email to be provided with the Zoom link.  A written submission is also acceptable, and are to be delivered by email to BC Housing.  In order for written submissions to be presented for consideration at the meeting, it is suggested they be provided to BC Housing no later than Friday, August 18, 2023.
