Southeast Fire Centre issues area restriction for Slocan Lake Complex

The BC Wildfire Service continues to respond to the Slocan Lake Complex, including, but not limited to, the Aylwin Creek wildfire (N51065), Komonko Creek wildfire (N51210), Nemo Creek wildfire (N51103), Ponderosa FSR wildfire (N51069), and Mulvey Creek wildfire (N51117).

In the interest of public and responder safety, an area restriction is now in effect within the Slocan Lake Complex:

  • Starting at the mouth of South Lemon Creek @ [49° 41.876′, -117° 27.721′] to the end of Ponderosa Creek FSR @ [49° 42.002′, -117° 27.414′].
  • Heading Northeast and tying into the source of Ringrose Creek @ [49° 43.574′, -117° 26.249′],
  • continuing North/Northeast to the junction of Spring Creek FSR & Springer Creek @ [49° 46.490′, -117° 26.815′].
  • Heading North/Northeast and tying into the source of Scorpion Creek @ [49° 48.323′, -117° 26.826′],
  • continuing North/Northeast to the source of Van Tuyl Creek @ [49° 49.373′, -117° 25.271′],
  • tying into the source of Allen Creek @ [49° 50.502′, -117° 24.699′].
  • Heading North/Northeast and tying into the hairpin corner junction of Hwy 6 & Enterprise Creek @ [49° 51.522′, -117° 24.076′],
  • continuing to the confluence of Wind Creek & Aylwin Creek @ [49° 52.996′, -117° 22.052′].
  • Heading North/Northeast to the confluence of Vevey Creek & Baby Ruth Creek @ [49° 54.986′, -117° 21.208′],
  • continue due North and tying into the confluence of Silverton Creek & Bartlett Creek @ [49° 57.242′, -117° 21.113′].
  • Turning Northeast and continuing to the source of Emily Creek @ [49° 58.092′, -117° 18.149′],
  • following below the height of land and tying into the source of White Creek @ [49° 57.298′, -117° 15.077′],
  • continuing to the source of Sandon Creek @ [49° 56.570′, -117° 13.431′].
  • Heading East to the source of Long Creek @ [49° 55.309′, -117° 10.305′],
  • turning Southeast tying into the Northwesterly corner of Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park boundary @ [49° 52.432′, -117° 9.959′].
  • Heading South following the park boundary to the Southwesterly corner of Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park boundary @ [49° 42.697′, -117° 16.365′],
  • tying into the mouth of Duhamel Creek and Upper Six Mile lake @ [49° 40.854′, -117° 17.873′].
  • Heading South/Southwest and tying into the source of Grohman Creek @ [49° 37.382′, -117° 19.321′],
  • turning West to connect with the point of commencement at the source of South Lemon Creek on Lemon Creek @ [49° 38.629′, -117° 24.176′].

Under this Order and section 11(2) of the Wildfire Act, a person must not remain in or enter the restricted area, unless the person:
1.) first receives written authorization of an official designated for the purposes of the Wildfire Act, or
2.) enters the area only in the course of:
(a) travelling to or from his or her residence, that is not under an evacuation order;
(b) using a highway as defined in the Transportation Act;
(c) travelling as a person acting in an official capacity as defined in s.56 of the Wildfire Act; or
(d) travelling for the purpose of supporting wildfire suppression or enforcement patrol activities.
