Join the Trail & District Arts Council and Trail’s Incredible Farmers Market on Thursday, July 18 for an entertaining evening of food vendors, market, beer & wine garden, and live music at The Night Market in Gyro Park from 5 to 8:30 p.m.

The music will kick off at 5:45 pm with Lheidli T’enneh artist, storyteller, performer, and cultural ambassador Kym Gouchie and her family-oriented show, featuring heartwarming Indigenous, folk, roots and country songs from catchy melodies that inspire playful moments to gentle lullabies that soothe the soul. With her traditional hand drum, ukulele, acoustic guitar, full-bodied voice, and authentic storytelling, Kym is dedicated to preserving Indigenous traditions and giving her audience an appreciation for her ancestral learnings and languages.

To further enhance the experience tonight, audience members are supplied with rocks, paints and brushes and encouraged to connect with Kym’s music and lyrics while they paint during her concert and share their experience.

Kym will be accompanied by multi-instrumentalists Naomi Kavka on Vocals and Cello and Ian Olmstead on Vocals, Keyboard, and Bass Guitar.

Then, at 6:30 pm, Twin Fiddles with Geoff Horrocks will take to the stage. Favourites of the fiddling world this trio features award-winning and renowned Canadian fiddlers, JJ Guy from Saskatchewan, Gordon Stobbe a Member of the Order of Canada from Nova Scotia, and Geoff Horrocks, widely known across Canada as a premier accompanist on guitar for fiddle players.

Both Gordon and JJ were inducted into the North American Fiddlers Hall of Fame in New York.

JJ and Gordon’s distinctive original tunes are in the twin fiddle style with lead and harmony lines that reflect their shared love for traditional fiddle music, the unique places they have been and the people they have met. Telling rich stories of their shared experiences, their show includes humour and audience participation.

Headlining the evening is Lisa Nicole and her Band at 7:05 pm. A musical self-starter whose story-driven lyrics are fused with a modern country sound, Lisa’s music and carefree stage presence have earned her warm admiration from fans. Hailing from Castlegar, Lisa Nicole discovered her love of singing at the age of 8 and by 15, she was playing regular jam sessions at Kootenay-area bars.

In 2013, Lisa debuted with the EP, “It Got Ugly” and industry recognition followed with 2014 BC Country Music Association Award nominations for the Ray McAuley Horizon Award and Music Video of the Year. In 2015 Lisa won the BCCMA/Music BC Artist Development Project, which included a Nashville songwriting trip and placement at Canada’s Music Incubator 10-week Artist Entrepreneur Program. Lisa also got a once-in-a-lifetime impromptu on-stage performance with Keith Urban at a Nashville pop-up concert in 2017.

Lisa will be joined on stage tonight by Jason Thomas, Tonnie Stewart, Terry Alton, and Chris Rhodes on drums.

Also, tonight you will not want to miss a sneak peek at the talented kids in this year’s Triple Threat Theatre show “Matilda – the Musical.”
