Justin Trudeau’s resignation has prompted plenty of reflections about his legacy. Regardless of his critics’ rhetoric, Trudeau made some important headway on dental care and childcare, and advanced more concrete action on emissions reduction than we’ve seen from any other government.

While he made big, progressive promises, he always fell short always fell short because he refused to take on the corporate greed and unfair taxation that has made Canada a more unequal and unjust place.

We have been left struggling with cost-of-living and affordable housing problems plus ever-worsening climate impacts – all while corporate billionaires and Big Oil rake in record profits.
Pierre Poilievre and his Conservatives are exploiting this crisis to build support. But it’s clear from their track record that if he takes power, the rich will get richer and the rest of us will continue to pay the price.

We deserve a government that will challenge corporate power, build a better future – a future that works for ALL of us. If the excessively wealthy (the top 10%) actually paid their fair share, resources could be put to work to address the problems families like us (who are paying our fair share) are facing.

Yours truly,

Judy Griffiths
