Attempted break, enter, theft leads to arrest of Trail man
On Saturday, August 2, at 8:34 a.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report about a theft and attempted break, enter, and theft into a residence in the 1500 block of Columbia Avenue, in Trail, said Trail RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.
“A surveillance camera captured a suspect allegedly cutting through a screen door in attempt to break into the residence,” Wicentowic said. “Fortunately, the door behind the screen was locked and prevented entrance. The man was believed to have also stolen strawberries from the garden and a pair of men’s shoes.”
He said the video footage was provided to the officer by the owner. A 40-year-old Trail man was identified by police from the footage.
The officer subsequently located and arrested the man.
The 40-year-old Trail man is in police custody awaiting his bail hearing before a Provincial Court judge.
The investigation continues.
