Police protect senior from potty problems
An elderly Trail woman was grateful for police intervention last week after a doorknob malfunction left her trapped in her own bathroom, according to Trail RCMP top cop Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.
“On Friday, Nov. 26, at 10:32 a.m., Trail and Greater District RCMP responded to a call for help at a residence in the 2000 block of Daniel Street in Trail,” Wicentowich said. “A neighbour had heard someone shouting for help from inside the residence and contacted the RCMP. When RCMP officers arrived, they located an 89-year-old Trail woman who was trapped in her bathroom after the door handled had fallen off. The elderly woman was in good spirits and was rescued without incident.
“On Monday, November 29, 2021, at 10:44 a.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to another call for help at the same residence in the 2000 block of Daniel Street. This time the 89-year-old woman had triggered her medical alarm when she became stuck in the bathroom again due to the faulty lock. Again, the elderly woman was in good spirits and happy to be rescued again by a handsome police officer.”
Wicentowch went on to assure the public that Trail RCMP will assist the woman in getting her bathroom lock repaired in the near future.
