Water advisory enters week three at Christina Lake

A boil water advisory at Christina Lake should be lifted next week if tests continue to show the all clear.
Sutherland Creek Water Works District issued the advisory two weeks ago after a regular water test showed an anomaly, said Mike Burrows, a trustee with the water district. Since then they have had two clear tests, and if all goes well with next week’s test the advisory will be lifted.
“It had one part per million of something (unidentified),” explained Burrows. “The health officer advised that we had to do the advisory. We absolutely have to do total due diligence.”
The Sutherland Creek Water Works District spans from Fisk Road to Tedesco Road, on both sides of Highway 3, and part way up Fife Road at the Lake.
Notices were hand delivered to the residents affected by the advisory. The water district uses a 200 foot well for their source and does include a minor amount of chlorination on a regular basis.
“We’ve had perfect tests since we put all the pumps in and everything,” said Burrows, adding that the smallest amount of contamination can impact the tests.
Users of the water system will be notified again by hand delivered information when the advisory is lifted.
