RDCK issues boil water advisory for Woodbury Village residents

Residents in the Woodbury Water System are advised to boil water starting Friday, August 31 said Jason McDiarmid Manager of Utility Services for the Regional District of Central Kootenay.
McDiarmid said in an RDCK press release the system has been compromised due to the presence of coliform bacteria in water samples.
“The RDCK and Interior Health recommend that all customers drink boiled water or a safe alternative until further notice,” McDiarmid explained.
“Water intended for drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice, or brushing teeth should be boiled for one minute.”
McDiarmid added that boiled water should then be refrigerated in a clean, covered container. Customers could also choose to use bottled or distilled water, or water that has been filtered through a well-maintained treatment device.
The RDCK is taking additional measures to reduce risk. Interior Health has been fully involved, and the public will be notified when conditions change or water quality has improved.

The water system is located at Woodbury Village along Highway 3A just north of Ainsworth Hot springs, and south of Kaslo. The system is in RDCK Electoral Area D.
