Police find money in vehicle of man associated with organized crime

Nelson Police stopped what the force believes is a male associated with organized crime during a late-night episode in the downtown core.
The incident began when officers attempted to engage a male in conversation before the man and his companion drove off, briefly evading police.
The male, his passenger and vehicle were quickly located.
After a brief roadside check the man was issued a 24-hour driving suspension for driving under the influence of alcohol and his vehicle was impounded for 24 hours.
A further investigation revealed the man had a large amount of cash inside his vehicle.
The male said he had no bank account as bankcard had been missing since he was a child.
Police believe the man has links with a well-known organized crime group and both are involved in the hard drug trade.

Male suffers burn to hands
During the early morning hours the Nelson Police was called to assist a burn victim.
The male had walked 30 minutes back to Nelson after burning his hands in a rural camp.
According to the male he was attempting to warm his hands by burning Methyl Hydrate fuel in a bowl.
The fire he lit in the bowl quickly got out of control causing his rural camp to catch on fire.
The man suffered serious burns to his hands and feet requiring medical attention and was treated at the scene by Nelson Fire Rescue Service and transported to Kootenay Lake Hospital by police.
Colt 1883 pump action rifle stolen
The Nelson Police Department launched an investigation into a theft of an antique firearm — a Colt 1883 pump action rifle, with an octagon shaped barrel.
The firearm is quite rare and valuable.
