UPDATED: Not even close as Team Whitewater/Red Mountain advances to next round of Powder Mag contest

Not even close.

Team Whitewater/Red Mountain out-pointed Sugerloaf 1309-1028 in the first round of Powder Magazine’s “Ski Town Throw Down” contest after two days of voting were completed late Thursday night.

Team Whitewater/Red Mountain advance to the next round of the contest against the winner of Whitefish/Whistler competition, which runs November 28-29.

It’s the final day of voting in the Powder Magazine’s “Ski Town Throw Down” contest.

To cast a vote in support of Nelson’s Whitewater Ski Resort or the World Famous Red Mountain in Rossland, simply go to Powder’s Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/powdermag/app_163329473692194.

The two West Kootenay ski hills, and surrounding areas, are up against Sugarloaf, a resort located in the heart of Carrabassett Valley four hours away from Boston and Montreal, in the 32-team event.

The contest, with a similar format as the spring NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, is to find the best ski town in North America.

Voting ends November 1.

It’s now or never for Whitewater and Red Mountain supporters in the Powder Magazine’s “Ski Town Throw Down” contest.
