Young adults' Halloween prank gets attention of NPD

Halloween 2012 came and went for Nelson City Police Department, with very few incidents to report.
The only major happening occurred at almost midnight when police received a notice of an alarm at the old Mount St. Francis Hospital.
When police arrived they found, and chased, several young adults from the building that were caught nearby.
“They were all forthcoming in admitting their involvement and were only trying to have a Halloween adventure in the old building,” Sergeant Paul Bayes said in a NPD release.
Bayes said the young adults would be kept out of the court system, as the culprits have no previous history.
Male found to be on drugs after narrowly being hit by NDP officer
A Nelson Police Constable needed to be quick with his reaction skills after narrowly missing a man walking into the middle of the road near the 100 block of Anderson Street Thursday (November 2) evening.
At 9:15 p.m., the police constable avoided the male before turning around to find the male under in the influence of drugs and in breach of a court imposed curfew.
The person was taken into custody and held for court in Nelson to answer to the charge of breaching his probation.
Woman’s good deed turns ugly
A male has been remanded into custody for a court appearance Monday (November 5) after turning on a Good Samaritan Thursday (November 2).
The incident occurred when a woman in an apartment complex took in an intoxicated homeless male, as he was cold and wet from the rain.
Unfortunately, the male became rude and aggressive once inside her apartment.
The woman managed to talk the person outside into the hallway where he threatened to kill her.
Nelson Police members attended and took the 40-year-old male into custody without incident.
The man was remanded into custody for court in Nelson Monday (November 5) to answer to charges of uttering threats and breaching a no-alcohol release condition.
