Kootenay Savings announces $44,700 in new grants for local non-profits

Building better communities, together, is at the heart of the credit union philosophy. Kootenay Savings takes great pride in being part of the fabric of the Kootenays and is dedicated to working with like-minded organizations to leave permanent, lasting legacies in communities across the region.

Since its establishment 13 years ago, the Kootenay Savings Community Foundation has distributed over $3.4 million in support to countless non-profit organizations, including the most recent announcement of $44,700 in new grants.

The grants provide assistance to educational, health, social, cultural, environmental and economic non-profit projects of benefit to the community. In total, nineteen different groups throughout the region will benefit from this most recent round of grants, including:

Black Jack Cross-Country Ski Club, $5,000;

Columbia & Western Trail Society, $1,000;

Columbia Valley Arts Council, $1,000;

Columbia Youth Development Centre, $10,000;

Greater Trail Hospice Society, $7,500;

Greater Trail Minor Hockey Association, $2,500;

Health Arts Society – Kootenay Chapter, $1,000;

JL Crowe Secondary School PE Department, $500;

Kimberley Lawn Bowling Society, $2,000;

Kimberley Summer Theatre Society, $3,200.

Along with the recent grants, the Community Foundation is also rewarding Kootenay-area youth for their commitment to community, education and leadership by distributing $37,600 in camp sponsorships, educational awards and endowments.
