Construction to start next week along Trail's main drag

This notice is to inform the public, businesses, residents and tenants on Victoria Street that the City of Trail’s Victoria Street Corridor Project Phase II will becommencing June 9, 2014 with an estimated completion date of August 15, 2014.

The work will take place along Victoria Street (from the Rossland Avenue intersection at Gerick Cycle & Sports to the Victoria Street Bridge) between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday to Friday.

There will be minimal traffic disruption during this time, in particular between the hours of 7-9 a.m. and 3-5 p.m. Motorists and pedestrians are asked to take caution when walking or driving through this area and are asked to please obey all posted information signage, temporary lane and sidewalk closures, posted speed limits, idle reduction notices and traffic control personnel in the area of construction. The prime contractor, Sierra Landscaping from the Okanagan, will be onsite for the duration of the project to complete the following tasks:

Construction Mobilization – Assemble crews and equipment on site.

Week of June 9th

Removal of existing materials (trees, soils, concrete, asphalt, etc.). 

Week 9th to week of June 23rd

Base Prep – Establish the subsurface conditions for placement of concrete.

Week June 23rd to week of July 1st

Concrete – Installation of new curbing, sidewalks and foundations. (majority of concrete work at Rossland Ave. intersection).

Week June 23rd to week of July 8th

Irrigation – Installation of water lines, valves and controllers.

Week of June 16th to week of July 28th

Soils – Installation of new growing medium (top soil mixture) in planting beds.

Week of July 14th to week of July 28th

Planting – Installation of trees, shrubs and grasses.

Week July 28th to week of August 4th

Furnishings – Installation memorial benches, waste bins and bike racks.

Week of August 4th to week of August 14th
