Nelson Police Sergeant Dino Falcone said Halloween 2015 was “quiet” for the most part despite the fact the night of trick-or-treating fell on the time change weekend.

“We had quite a few calls (2014) compared with this year,”  Falcone told The Nelson Daily Monday.

“This year we had about 27 calls which four were noise complaints reported overnight, three reports of theft from and mischief to motor vehicles as well as a report of four slashed tires.”

Falcone said NPD encourage people to make sure their vehicles doors are locked and not to leave anything valuable inside.

Falcone said NPD staffed Halloween with extra members due to the annual event happening on the Saturday of the fall time change.

“We anticipated a busy night with Halloween falling on time change weekend,” said Falcone, adding the night was staffed with extra members including members of the reserves.

“The members were still busy. There were three intoxicated (arrests) as well in addition to the thefts, to the mischief calls, thefts, noise complaints and several smashed pumpkins throughout the city.”

Falcone said NPD was pleased with the trick or treaters and party goers young and old given the very little mischief and what notoriously could have been much worse with the alignment of Hallowe’en on a weekend and the extra hour of the time change.
