Two facing charges following alcohol-related calls to NPD
Too much alcohol proved to be too much for two women in the Heritage City, prompting the public to contact Nelson Police Department for assistance prior to the weekend.
Friday (November 13), Nelson Police Department dispatch received a call at approximately 7:25 a.m. from staff at a local convenience for an unresponsive female.
When officers arrived they found a female slumped over in the driver’s seat of her vehicle.
Police noted an odor of alcohol coming from the female but were unable to wake the driver. Due to the female being unresponsive Emergency Health Services was called to transport the driver to hospital.
It was determined that the female was intoxicated and was under the influence of drugs as well.
Police issued a driving suspension to the woman and towed the vehicle.
Intoxicated female later arrested for fraud
Thursday (November 12) Nelson Police was contacted regarding an intoxicated, uncooperative female at local residence.
The female agreed to leave the residence and was transported to a local hospital at her request.
Later that day, NPD officers, as a result of follow up investigation, arrested the same female for fraud and possession of stolen property.
Nelson Police also found that Castlegar RCMP was seeking the same woman for related offences.
The female is being held for a bail hearing later this week.
