Buy a Blizzard, help our kids this Miracle Treat Day #TeamZach
Today’s the big day, where you can blow that diet and enjoy a cooling and delicious Blizzard at Dairy Queen – guilt free! It’s Miracle Treat Day, which means all the net proceeds from Blizzards sold in B.C. Dairy Queens today will go to the B.C. Children’s Hospital (and in other provinces, to support their own local Children’s Miracle Network hospital) .
Owner of Castlegar DQ Tim Kenna says this is the 15th Annual Miracle Treat Day, supporting a cause that’s dear to his heart.
“It’s the highlight of our year,” Kenna said. “We’ve actually had a couple of staff whose kids have had to go down to the B.C. Children’s Hospital. When your child has health problems, you want to do the best you can for them, and the B.C. Children’s Hospital is one of the best in the country, if not the world.”
He said provincial DQs raised $416,000 for the hospital last year, and DQs Canada-wide raised $3.1 million for children’s hospitals across the country. The goal this year is $4 million.
Since the partnership between DQ and Children’s Miracle Network began in 1984, Dairy Queen has become a top contributor with $125 million raised to-date in support of sick and injured children across North America.
Almost 5,000 children enter a Children’s Miracle Network hospital for treatment every day. In recognition and support of these courageous youth and their families, DQ employees, volunteers and celebrities will unite on Miracle Treat Day to raise funds to benefit local children’s hospital foundations.
“Miracle Treat Day is an incredible time when local communities across Canada are united in the common goal of raising money to help kids in their own backyards,” says Ameera Virani, Director, Corporate Partnerships, Children’s Miracle Network. “We are so thankful for the collaboration we see year after year from DQ and children’s hospitals across the country.”
