I was born and raised in Rossland. That’s where I met my wife of 41 years and where we raised our 3 sons. My wife and I moved to Trail in 2011 and love living here.

My emergency services career began in Rossland in 1981 as a Volunteer Firefighter and in 1983 as a part time paramedic with BCEHS. I graduated from Selkirk College in 1990 with a Diploma in Registered Nursing. In 1991 I was hired as a career firefighter in Trail. In 2004 I was promoted to Deputy Regional Fire Chief/Emergency Program Coordinator and in 2010 became the Regional Fire Chief/Fire Dispatch Manager.

During my time as both the Deputy and Regional Fire Chief I was responsible for the budgets of the Fire Department, Fire Dispatch Center and the Emergency Response Program. I also submitted reports and attended regularly scheduled meetings at the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary with the East End Services Committee and the RDKB Board of Directors.

In early 2017 I retired from the Fire Service. From April to August of 2017 I worked as a Community Coroner for the BC Coroner Services. From August 2017 to September 2019 I worked as a Structure Protection Specialist with the Office of the Fire Commisoner and the BC Wildfire Service.

It was in May of 2019 that I became a member of the City of Trail’s Community Safety Task Force and in June of 2019 I became a Board Director for the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital Health Foundation. I am still an active member with both of these organizations. From April 2020 to June 2021 I worked as a driver for the KBRH High Acuity Response Team Program.

It was after my retirement that I began thinking about joining municipal politics. I follow Trail City Council by reading all the agendas and minutes, and for the past year have watched the recorded council meetings. I decided to run for Trail City Council because I understand the importance of giving back to our community with the hope of making it stronger. As Councillor I will be a new voice at City Hall. I will work to unite Council with the common goal of moving the City of Trail forward. I will also work with Council and agency partners to find solutions to help the vulnerable population.

We need to make Trail a city where people want to come visit and live.
